FAQS

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed directly through our website shop. Simply choose your meat box, place your order, and we will contact you to arrange delivery or collection.

What cuts will I receive in a meat box?

Each meat box contains a variety of premium cuts, which may include items such as steaks, roasts, mince, and BBQ cuts depending on the box you choose.

Exact cuts may vary slightly depending on seasonal availability and the animal, but we always aim to provide a great balance of everyday cooking cuts and premium eating cuts.

Is farm-direct meat better quality than supermarket meat?

Farm-direct meat often offers greater transparency and quality because you know exactly where your food comes from.

At Burgess Peaks, our animals are grass fed and raised on our Raglan farm, with careful attention to breeding and animal welfare. Our beef genetics focus on PiedAngus, Angus, and Piedmontese lines, which are known for producing tender beef with excellent marbling and flavour.

All meat is professionally processed and vacuum packed to maintain quality and freshness.

Why is buying a meat box good value?

Buying a meat box directly from the farm allows us to offer premium quality beef and lamb without the high supermarket prices. By selling directly to customers, we remove several steps in the traditional supply chain while still ensuring the meat is professionally processed and packed.

This means you receive high-quality, farm-raised meat at a fair and competitive price.

Is your meat grass fed?

Yes. All of our cattle and sheep areraised on pasture and grass fed on our farm near Raglan. We believe great meat begins with great farming and animals raised naturally.

Where does your meat come from?

All of our beef and lamb comesdirectly from our own farm. Our animals are raised by us and professionally processed at a registered meat processing facility. This means every box of meat isfully traceable from farm to plate.

Is the meat fresh or frozen?

Our meat is vacuum packed and frozen to lock in freshness and ensure safe transport and storage. When your order arrives, it can go straight into your freezer and be used whenever you need it.

How is the meat packaged?

All cuts are professionally vacuum packed and labelled to maintain quality and extend shelf life. Vacuum packing also makes the meat easy to store and stack neatly in your freezer.

How much meat is in a box?

Each meat box varies depending on the option you choose. The product description on each box shows the approximate weight and cuts included so you know exactly what to expect.

How much freezer space will I need?

Most of our meat boxes are designed to fit comfortably into a standard household freezer.

As a rough guide:

• A 10kg meat box takes about the same space as a large supermarket shopping bag.
• Smaller boxes will require even less space.

Because all cuts are vacuum packed, they stack neatly and are easy to organise in your freezer.

How long will the meat last in the freezer?

When stored properly in a freezer at -18°C or colder, vacuum packed beef and lamb can last 6–12 months without losing quality.

Once thawed, meat should be kept refrigerated and used within a few days.

Do you offer delivery?

Yes. We used chilled nationwide overnight delivery to ensure your meat arrives in top condition.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No. If you are not home at the time of delivery, simply leave a chilly bin or insulated container in a safe place and we will place your order inside to keep it cold.

Can I collect my order instead?

Yes. You can also collect your meat box from our farm near Raglan. Collection details will be provided once your order is ready.
